The art capitals of the world now include the Waterloo Region, where a new “Get Off On Art” package makes for a cultural getaway. The Walper Hotel in downtown Kitchener, a local landmark built in 1893, has teamed up with four local art galleries — Cambridge Galleries, the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery, Homer Watson House & Gallery and the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery — for the promotion, which includes overnight accommodation at preferred rates at the Walper with breakfast (to go or full buffet), plus admission to all four galleries. The Cambridge Galleries has three locations, including Design at Riverside with a focus on architecture and design, while the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery has a 4,000-work permanent collection. Among the many Days Inn properties offering special travel deals this summer is the Days Inn Montreal Downtown. Its City Tour package is priced at $200 per night, double occupancy, and includes one night’s accommodation, full breakfast and a three-hour Gray Line tour (extra nights are available at the best rate of the day). MUSKOKA ‘ALL-INCLUSIVE’
Muskoka’s Delawana Inn & Spa has gone “all-inclusive,” offering three meals per day and, taking advantage of Ontario’s new liquor laws, select beer, wine and spirits, for an additional $37 per person, per day for stays through the summer. In the fall the all-inclusive add-on drops to $20 per person, per day. The deal applies to stays of two nights or more, for guests 21 years and up.
