Man charged with felony murder in deputy's crash
&Mdash; A convicted felon who led Tampa Bay-area law enforcement officers on a four-county chase has been charged with felony murder in the death of a Hernando County Sheriff's deputy who crashed.Michael James Anthony was in custody Tuesday in Pinellas County. The 35-year-old also faces a charge of fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement and a probation violation. Jail records did not show whether he had an attorney.
Authorities say Anthony was spotted driving recklessly early Sunday in Brooksville. He eventually surrendered in Pinellas County. Two Hernando County deputies lost control of their vehicles and crashed while pursuing Anthony. One suffered minor injuries. Deputy John Mecklenburg died after a fiery collision.
Anthony's ex-wife tells the St. Petersburg Times that Anthony's life spiraled into crime after he began using drugs.

That is why you don't pursue... The story says "Anthony was spotted driving recklessly", so let me get this straight... They pursued him for a traffic infraction??? That was foolish for the administration to let that continue, let alone into 4 counties that resulted in a death. Stupid decision on that note, but this jackwagon deserves to be charged. Deputies said they found a plastic gun inside the car along with the two uneaten glazed doughnuts. It was unclear from the report whether the cash was recovered. Ray was taken to the Pinellas County Jail on a charge of armed robbery.

CONVICTED Reggae artiste Buju Banton has been transferred from the Pinellas County Jail to the Citrus County Jail in Tampa, Florida. The artiste will be processed by correctional staff at that penal facility before he knows where he will spend his 10 year sentence for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five or more kilogrammes of cocaine. His attorney David Oscar Markus told the Observer that the prison board had not yet decided which prison Banton will be housed. Banton, whose is registered as Mark Anthony Myrie, will not have any of his assets seized by the United States government after testimony by a drug enforcement agent that despite investigating him for over a year, there was no evidence that he profited from any illicit drug transaction. He was arrested in December 2009 at his home in South Florida hours after his two co-defendants, Ian Thomas and James Mack were arrested after they attempted to buy large amounts of cocaine from federal agents in a police controlled warehouse. Both men have pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 51 months. Despite being sentenced to 10 years, the Grammy winning artiste could be set free in six years as his 18 month remand while awaiting the outcome of his trial and good behaviour while in prison could see him spending just six years.
