HOW TO WIN

Write your essay in 200 words or less and submit it to Boo’s Basketball Camp, Journal Star Sports Department, 1 News Plaza, Peoria, IL 61653, or by email to jbates@pjstar.com. All essays must include your name, age and date of birth, home address and phone number for verification. Emails must be received by midnight July 8, and mailed essays must be postmarked by July 8. Writers of winning essays can attend the Skills for Life Basketball Academy, courtesy of Curley “Boo” Johnson and the Journal Star.

CAMP DETAILS

The Skills for Life Basketball Academy is a one-week experience for boys age 9 to 14 Aug. 1-5 at Peoria Academy, 2711 W. Willow Knolls Road. Sessions are from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. daily. Camp counselors include some of the Peoria area’s best high school players, including Brett Bisping of Morton, Nathan Taphorn of Pekin and Jeff Keke White of Manual.
