ROANOKE -- Franklin County All-Stars begin play in the 2011 Virginia District 12 Little League major division (age 12) baseball tournament Tuesday night against Cave Spring National.
Game time is 6 p.m. at Starkey Park in Roanoke. This marks the first year that Franklin County has competed under the Little League Baseball banner in ages 9-12. The team with the best record over five games will be declared the champion. There are tiebreaker procedures in place in case of ties. The winner of the six-team, round-robin tournament will represent District 12 in the Virginia State Little League tournament in Leesburg, beginning July 21. Joining Franklin County and Cave Spring National in the district tournament are Cave Spring American, Covington, Blacksburg and Clifton Forge/Bath County. Each team will host two games in the five-game tournament, which runs through Saturday. Franklin County will host games on Friday against Covington and Saturday against Clifton Forge/Bath County. Both games will be played at Waid Recreation Area with 5:30 p.m. start times. On Wednesday, Franklin County travels to Blacksburg and on Thursday it returns to Starkey Park to face Cave Spring American.Bath County Va - News

John Barnett Sr. and Elizabeth Johnston had a son (John Jr.)The John Barnett on my family tree was born around 1844 in VA and he was married to a Nancy.
